Project Sleep Connects with Students and Community Partners at Austin Peay State University’s Health + Wellness Expo
Project Sleep’s Sleep Helpline Manager, Heather Lill, LPC-MHSP, recently attended the Health + Wellness Expo at Austin Peay State University—and the day was nothing short of inspiring. With steady foot traffic, meaningful conversations, and new community partnerships forming, the event highlighted just how much interest and need there is for accessible sleep health, disorder, and equity resources.
Sleep Health Community Outreach
Throughout the day, 80–100 students, staff, and community members stopped by the Project Sleep table to learn more about sleep disorders, symptoms, and how to advocate for their own sleep. Heather shared information about Project Sleep’s programs, including the Sleep Helpline, the Talking to Your Doctor About Sleep Issues toolkit, and more.
We had several students who felt they needed to be screened [for sleep disorders], and a few staff members who came over for information as well. It was wonderful to see people so engaged and eager to learn.”

Building New Community Partnerships
In addition to connecting with students, Heather met several local organizations interested in expanding sleep health, disorder, and equity awareness in their own work. Mental health agencies, local hospital staff, a health and wellness coach, and a credit union all expressed enthusiasm for sharing Project Sleep’s materials.
“These conversations were so meaningful,” Heather reflected. “People were genuinely grateful to have a resource they could trust.”
Looking Ahead: Continued Collaboration
The Student Affairs team at Austin Peay looks forward to future collaborations and invited Project Sleep back for upcoming events. The day was a huge reminder of how vital sleep health education is, and how many people are searching for answers, support, and connection.
We’re grateful to Heather for representing Project Sleep with such warmth and expertise, and to Austin Peay State University for welcoming us into their community. Together, we’re helping more people feel informed, empowered, and less alone on their sleep journeys.
